Helsinki’s most popular congress venue, Finlandia Hall, is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2001. It was designed by the internationally renowned architect Alvar Aalto.
Before Finlandia Hall was built, large concerts and congresses were arranged in the university’s Great Hall. During the Second World War the Great Hall was severely damaged by aerial bombing in 1944.
Helsinki's sights The tropical garden Gardenia, co-owned by the City of Helsinki and the University of Helsinki, is located in the Viikki campus, next to a nature reserve. The lush garden is a refreshing place to visit all year round.
